Offer Description
NASK National Research Institute in Poland offers an outstanding research environment with unique datasets, labs, and network infrastructure, supporting world-class scientific research with cybersecurity and artificial intelligence applications.
We announce a competition for Professor of the Institute position in the Department of Cryptology at the NASK Centre for Research and Development. The department carries out research activities focused on ensuring cybersecurity through the development and analysis of technical solutions designed to provide security "by design and by defaultu". Its work includes, in particular, cryptography, cryptanalysis, emerging technologies such as quantum communication and quantum cryptanalysis, protection against malicious implementations of cryptographic protocols, accountability of actions, and privacy protection.
The Department is actively involved in the analysis and design of future solutions for data exchange and data-driven ecosystems across the business sector, public administration, as well as the private sphere of individual citizens.
We are looking for an ambitious and committed scientist to conduct advanced research on critical issues in cryptography and cybersecurity, expand our research group, and undertake research activities in emerging areas of cyber threats.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting advanced research and development activities within ongoing research projects
- Disseminating project outcomes and research results through scientific publications, conference presentations, and seminars
- Leading and managing research activities under the proposed research programme and building a research team
- Providing expert advisory services to external stakeholders within the competencies of the Cryptology Department
- Developing interdisciplinary collaborations with other research institutions

Skills/Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Habilitation degree (doktor habilitowany) in technical science and telecommunication, or computer science, or an equivalent qualification recognized for international candidate;
- Proven scientific achievements, i.e.: publications, IACR reports, patent applications, confidential technical reports, or other research outputs, including at least:
- one paper published at an ICORE Category A conference, or
- one publication in a journal awarded 140 points under the Polish research evaluation system,
- Proven expertise in the field of cybersecurity;
- Documented experience in leading scientific and/or research and development projects, funded from external sources within the last five years;
- Submit a three-year research programme aligned with the mission and research areas of expertise of NASK National Research Institute;
- Fluency in English;
Specific Requirements
Applications should include:
- Description of the applicant's most significant achievements in cybersecurity, together with:
- copies of the most important works/papers documenting these achievements;
- a complete list of publications, patents, and other research outputs documenting scientific and research and development achievements;
- a list of cybersecurity projects carried out within the last five years, including the applicant's role and a concise description of the project scope;
- Concise description of the proposed three-year research programme;
- Cover letter addressed to the Director of NASK National Research Institute (NASK-PIB);
- Statement of consent to the processing of personal data for recruitment purposes;
- Copies of educational evidence or links to official source databases providing verification;

- sent via application form at Competition for Professor of the Institute position NASK by 11:59 PM (CEST) on 15th September 2026.
