Professor of Transition Processes in Urban and Rural Areas

Professor of Transition Processes in Urban and Rural Areas

At Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences (HVHL), we collaborate on sustainable solutions for current issues from the perspectives of education, research, and the professional field. As Professor of Transition Processes in Urban and Rural Areas, you will have the opportunity to develop a powerful research program, collaborate with inspiring partners, and thereby make a direct impact on the professional field as well as our students.

The Research Group on Transition Processes in Urban and Rural Areas will focus on transition processes, participation, and systemic changes, and the effect these have on the living environment of humans, plants, and animals. In doing so, the Research Group will align with a very diverse range of practical issues concerning climate, water, nature, the living environment, food supply, and livelihood security. Issues regarding the design of both liveable cities and the surrounding areas will be investigated within a social science context. In doing so, the Research Group makes a significant contribution to the objectives and vision of HVHL.

The Professorship is not an entirely new professorship, but it is a continuation of the CoPSEL (Communication, Participation and Socio-Ecological Learning) professorship, which currently already has an extensive research portfolio. The themes and projects related to the design of sustainable and livable cities are being added to this portfolio. You can find the initial memorandum for this professorship here. Cannot open it? Then please email anja.jansen@hvhl.nl, and she will email it to you as soon as possible.
