Additional comments
・The Earth and Planetary Science Division studies the past, current, and future states of earth environments and their mechanisms through Geology & Geobiology, Geochemistry & Cosmochemistry, Earth & Planetary Physics, and Ecology, and contributes to solve global issues such as environmental problems and natural disasters through Earth Environmental System Science. The educational programs in our division focus on the development of human resources who promote these studies internationally. Promotion of the collaborative works and strengthening of the scientific network between the five research groups are now being planned in our division.
The Earth Environmental Systems Group conducts interdisciplinary environmental research and education that bridges the humanities and sciences, collaborating with other groups within this department as well as with other departments. We view the Earth as a single system composed of integrated subsystems and are dedicated to research aimed at designing a sustainable Earth and society. By approaching these various subsystems through an integration of methods from Earth and planetary sciences and the humanities and social sciences, we engage in “Clinical Environmental Studies”—research that diagnoses sustainability and prescribes and implements solutions.
