The University of Washington (UW), Department of Ophthalmology is currently recruiting one part-time physician to engage in clinical care, research and teaching in corneal and external disease. This position will be based at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) at the Professor rank, on the Clinical Practice Track. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. Positions are available effective July 1, 2026.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Responsibilities include clinical care, resident and fellow supervision and training, including both medical and surgical training, and teaching of medical students.
Candidates will be expected to provide medical cornea and external disease care, including treatment of consult and urgent patients at the University of Washington affiliated sites of practice which include Harborview Medical Center and UW Medical Centers.
Successful candidates will be expected to engage in substantial teaching and scholarly research in academic ophthalmology. Protected time for academic endeavors will be provided.

Compensation - Salary
The base salary for this position will be $20,834 - $21,667 per month ($250,008 - $260,004/annum) pro-rated to FTE and commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through University of Washington Physicians (UWP) practice plan in additional to base salary provided by the university.
Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in the University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through University of Washington Physicians practice plan. Incentive is inclusive of variable incentive, Monthly or Semi-Annual additional compensation (MAC/SAAC).

Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and have completed ophthalmology residency (or foreign equivalent) and a cornea/external disease fellowship. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years experience in academic clinical practice at Associate or Full Professor rank in Ophthalmology.
A demonstrated record of teaching and scholarly research in ophthalmology is required. Applicants must be American Board of Ophthalmology-certified (or foreign equivalent) or Board eligible and eligible for licensure in the State of Washington.
Part-time positions are not eligible for UW visa sponsorship.
