The Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries (DACI) provides conceptual and practical training for students seeking careers in the burgeoning creative and cultural industries in Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area, and beyond. The Department offers three BA (Hon) programmes (Animation and Digital Arts; Film and Visual Arts; Creative Media Industries) and two MA programmes (Creative and Media Industries; Curating and Art History). The appointee will teach a wide range of subjects including animation, digital arts and immersive media, film and media studies, art history and curation. DACI is inviting applications for a tenure-track position at either the rank of Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Creative Industries to contribute to teaching and research in relevant areas in creative and cultural industries. Applicants with expertise in digital art and AI, cultural production and AI, creator economies, social media and games studies will be especially welcomed.
The appointee is expected to:
- Teach undergraduate or postgraduate courses, including supervising capstone projects;
- Publish high-quality outputs to contribute to the Department’s research productivity;
- Successfully bid for competitive grants from Research Grants Council (Hong Kong) or other external funding sources;
- Recruit top PhD students and advise undergraduate students;
- Contribute service work to the operation of the Department and the University.
General Requirements
Applicants seeking the appointment of Professor / Associate Professor should have:
- A PhD degree in art history, media studies, or creative arts;
- At least 6 years of full-time academic appointment in tertiary education with experience teaching creative industries, art history or other relevant courses;
- A proven record of top-tiered journal publications and/or monographs from reputable university presses;
- A proven record of competitive grants;
- A proven record of administrative experience in leadership roles, curricular development, knowledge transfer, and community engagement.
Applicants seeking the appointment of Assistant Professor should have:
- A PhD degree from a reputable program in art history, creative arts, or media studies;
- A track record of high-quality publications and competitive grants;
- Some experience in teaching or developing digital humanities courses in creative industries and/or art history.
Appointment
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.
