Professorship for Romance Linguistics – French and Italian

as a professorship for life at grade W 3 to be appointed as soon as possible.

The future holder of the position (f/m/d) is expected to represent the field of Romance Linguistics (French and Italian) in research and teaching in its full breadth. Applicants must be proven experts in the core areas of French and Italian linguistics, and a focus on multilingualism research is also expected.

The professorship is an integral part of the Department of Linguistics and Multilingualism (DeLM) currently being established and is expected to shape the joint research projects planned within it as well as the university's interdisciplinary focus areas. Experience in the competitive acquisition of third-party funding projects is desirable.

Involvement in international research networks and participation in academic self-administration are required. In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to provide organisational support for the Romanian language lectureship and the binational bachelor's programme in German-Italian Studies. As part of the supervision of students in the bachelor's, master's and teacher training programmes, research-oriented teaching, innovative teaching concepts and a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary programmes (e.g. the University of Regensburg Teacher Education Centre) are required.

Prerequisites for taking up the position are, in addition to the general conditions from public sector employment law: a completed university degree, pedagogic suitability, and particular aptitude for academic work, generally shown by a doctoral degree, as well as additional academic achievements, such as a Habilitation or an equivalent research record. Scientific research experience gained outside of a university environment, or while employed as a Junior Professor, will also be taken into consideration and may be considered equivalent to a formal academic qualification.
