Aufgabengebiet:

This professorship is responsible for the subject areas of building theory and design. It serves two central modules in the curriculum:

The post holder (m/f/d) teaches students the necessary skills to design complex buildings with special technical requirements with regard to the supporting structure, the building construction or the building envelope, thereby combining design and technology. The focus is on sustainability and the careful use of material and ecological resources. The position holder (m/f/d) supports students in acquiring knowledge about the social relevance of Architecture and guides them to produce an architectural design from the analysis of the existing situation, through initial spatial-functional ideas, detailed elaboration to presentation, taking into account the aforementioned aspects.

In building theory, the post holder (m/f/d) promotes the acquisition of design-supporting knowledge of the fundamentals, facts and requirements for the appropriate design and function of various types of buildings, such as assembly, sports, industrial buildings or the transformation of existing buildings. Students will be able to organize buildings and operational processes in a meaningful way and understand the logic of typical organizational structures and building systems, in particular the typology of development concepts, the distinction between serving and serviced spaces, barrier-free construction, as well as essential building law requirements for this.

The holder of the position (m/f/d) represents the professorship in an application-oriented manner in teaching, further education and research.

Teaching activities will focus on the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Architecture. The professorship requires a high level of commitment in the supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses, student projects and excursions as well as in the strategic further development of consecutive degree programs, the expansion and development of career-integrated programs, continuing education and dual degree programs. Intensive cooperation with practice and training partners is necessary for application-oriented studies at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.

In applied research, interdisciplinary cooperation with national and international universities and research institutions, companies and professional associations as well as with other departments at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is desired. In addition, active participation in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects and research and development projects is expected.

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has the right to award doctorates in research-oriented disciplines. Participation in the cross-university Doctoral Center Architecture and Design Research is therefore desired.

Active participation in the committees of academic self-administration is one of the tasks of the professorship.

Anforderungsprofil:

We are looking for a proven personality in the field of appointment with practical experience in design, in particular with regard to the supporting structure, building construction and the building envelope. Proven expertise in the field of building theory is required.

The applicant (m/f/d) has a relevant academic degree in Architecture and proven practical achievements in the field of Architecture. The experience in or ability to teach design concepts and buildings must be illustrated by a teaching portfolio.

The holder of the position (m/f/d) is expected to teach at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, in particular the course content of design and building theory in English and German in Bachelor's/Master's degree programs in a contemporary manner. The classes assigned to the professorship are to be further developed using modern didactic methods and working techniques, especially in digital form, and aligned with current research results.

The future post holder (m/f/d) should have experience in the acquisition and implementation of research, cooperation and/or third-party funded projects with partners from science and practice as well as publications on the denominations of the professorship.

International networking in the subject area of the professorship is desirable.

Excellent knowledge of the German and English language of instruction as well as intercultural skills are required.

Einstellungsvoraussetzungen:

The formal recruitment requirements are based on Section 35 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA).

Appointment to a professorship is made for the first time upon fulfillment of the prerequisites for a probationary civil servant position. If the prerequisites are not met, a temporary employment relationship under private law can be established.

If the candidate proves successful during the probationary period, the appointment will be converted into a civil servant position for life or the employment relationship under private law will be made permanent.
