The Bernburg-based Department of Agriculture, Ecotrophology and Landscape Development invites applications for the professorship of Human Nutrition and Dietetics (salary group W3) which is to be filled at the earliest possible date.
Job Description:
As the professorship has a profile-defining role in the fields of ecotrophology and nutrition therapy, it comes with a responsibility for coordinating the subject areas in the department’s teaching and research structures that goes beyond the field of appointment. The professorship’s profile is characterized by a focus on health-promoting human nutrition. Interdisciplinary networking with other areas of ecotrophology is essential in order to develop sustainable solutions for current and future nutritional challenges.
The position holder (m/f/x) represents the professorship in an application-oriented manner in teaching, continuing education and research.
Teaching activities focus on module courses on human nutrition, applied nutritional science, diet therapy and related specialist areas. The professorship requires a high level of commitment to supervising bachelor's and master's theses, student projects and excursions, as well as to the strategic further development of the consecutive degree programs, the expansion and development of career-integrated, continuing-education and cooperative/dual degree programs. Following a degree at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences includes intensive cooperation with companies as well as research and training partners.
To ensure the highest standards of research, we actively collaborate with national and international universities, research institutions, companies, professional associations, as well as other departments at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. Active participation in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects as well as research and development projects is expected.
Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has the right to award doctorates in research-intensive disciplines. Participation in the inter-university Doctoral Center “Life Sciences” is therefore expected.
Active participation in the University’s collaborative academic management structures (akademische Selbstverwaltung) is also one of the responsibilities of the professorship.
Requirement Profile:
Applicants are expected to possess comprehensive knowledge enabling them to perform the above-mentioned tasks in the field of appointment with a level of excellence and visibility meeting national and international standards.
Anhalt University seeks to appoint a proven expert (m/f/x) with scientific as well as application-related knowledge and experience in nutrition physiology and nutrition therapy.
The future position holder should demonstrate expertise in the acquisition and implementation of research, cooperation and/or third-party funded projects with partners from academia and practice in Germany and abroad, and is also expected to have published on the main research areas in the field of appointment. Participation in associations and research networks as well as maintaining an effective collaborative network in the context of the field of appointment are essential aspects of the position in question.
The applicant (m/f/x) has graduated with a relevant university degree in the field of appointment (nutritional sciences, ecotrophology, medicine or comparable) and has successfully completed a doctorate.
In teaching, the successful applicant is expected to teach program-relevant contents in both English and German in Bachelor's/Master's degree programs employing current approaches. The module courses assigned to the professorship are to be further developed using modern didactic methods and techniques. Current research findings are to be part of the curricula.
International networking in the field of expertise of the professorship is one of the requirements of the position.
The willingness and ability to provide impulses for internationalization and sustainability-oriented action in research and teaching are expected.
The ability to engage in inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation with partners from science, society and business is just as much required as the willingness to become involved in the University’s academic management structures (akademische Selbstverwaltung) as well as in the further development of the major degree programs.

Employment requirements:
The formal recruitment requirements are based on Section 35 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA).
Appointment to a professorship is made for the first time upon fulfillment of the prerequisites for a probationary civil servant position. If the prerequisites are not met, a temporary employment relationship under private law can be established.
If the candidate proves successful during the probationary period, the appointment will be converted into a civil servant position for life or the employment relationship under private law will be made permanent.
