The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in Primary education research with a focus on learning and development. The position will be based in the Institute of Educational Research at the School of Education. We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously develop this area in research and teaching. We offer a strong network, diverse cooperation opportunities and a high degree of creative freedom for ideas and impulses for the development of the degree course in primary school teaching in cooperation with RWTH Aachen University (start winter semester 2025/26).
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant empirical research on primary school pedagogical topics, especially in the area of learning and development and the associated challenges at primary school
- Teaching in the subject “Educational Sciences” as part of the “Bachelor of Education Primary School course” in Aachen
- Cooperation in teaching and research with the other professorships based in Aachen regarding the development of the primary school teaching degree programme in Aachen
- Cooperation with other institutions of the University of Wuppertal, in particular with the departments of the Institute of Educational Research
- Interfaculty and interdisciplinary research, e.g., participating in the university's fields of activity, networking with the Interdisciplinary Project Forums for Teacher Education InProF
- Acquisition of competitive third-party funding
- Sharing responsibility for the continuous and strategic development of Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in the context of teacher education, especially in Aachen
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed degree (Master of Education from a university or university of applied sciences) in a relevant field, e.g., in educational sciences, psychology
- Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate with a topic relevant to the advertised position
- Further relevant scientific achievements performed during a first professorship include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad
- Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or, exceptionally, demonstrated in the appointment procedure
- Relevant and visible empirical research on topics in the field of learning and development relevant for primary school
- Relevant publication activities (including articles in peer-reviewed journals, preferably in international journals)
- Acquisition of third-party funding, preferably competitive third-party funding
- Proven experience in the teaching profession, preferably at primary school
- International orientation
You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by publications, relevant teaching experience, international orientation and the successful acquisition of third-party funds. Please enclose relevant certificates and supporting documents with your application.
