In conjunction with the Sigmund Freud Institute in Frankfurt/Main, the following position is to be filled as soon as possible at the Goethe University, Frankfurt/Main. The position is vacant at the Department of Psychology, which is part of the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Science. It is available either for a (German) civil servant or under a special employment contract.
Within the Department of Psychology the holder of the endowed professorship will represent Clinical Psychoanalysis in research and teaching and will actively participate in the development of the research focus »Mental Health and Translational Clinical Psychology.« The position is linked to the position of director and head of the outpatient clinic at the Sigmund Freud Institute (SFI) in Frankfurt/Main. The SFI is an independent foundation under public law and a non-university research institute focusing on psychoanalysis and its applications, with an emphasis on psychoanalytically oriented sociological, socio-psychological, and clinical/psychological research. As head of the outpatient clinic, the incumbent will be responsible for clinical psychoanalytic research within this area of the SFI.
We are looking for a candidate (f/m/d) with an excellent international research profile in the field of Clinical Psychoanalysis, combining quantitative and qualitative methods with expertise in psychotherapy research focusing on psychodynamic approaches or related fields. Evidence of this is required in the shape of publications in international journals and success in securing and conducting third-party-funded research projects. We further expect experience in collaborative research and strong teaching and leadership skills.
The successful candidate will be required to participate actively in shaping the future profile of clinical psychology research, to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation within and outside the university, and to participate in academic self-administration. At the Department of Psychology, the future holder of the position will also play a responsible role in the implementation and further development of the M.Sc. program in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy in conjunction with neighboring professorships in Clinical Psychology. The professorship is associated with a regular teaching obligation of four hours per week (4 LVS). Accordingly, outstanding expertise in teaching psycho-diagnostic and clinical psychotherapeutic skills in a university setting is required, as is proven experience in the psychodynamic treatment of patients.
Clinical psychodynamic training with a license to practice as a psychological psychotherapist according to the German law (Approbation, completed or close to completion) and expertise in analytical psychotherapy or depth-psychology-based psychotherapy are essential. Also desirable is expertise in postgraduate training and the supervision of psychotherapists with a focus on psychodynamic methods, as recognized by a relevant professional association.

The formal appointment requirements are defined in sections 67 and 68 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
