"Program Administrator to the MIT Committee on Animal Care"

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR TO THE MIT COMMITTEE ON ANIMAL CARE, Division of Comparative Medicine (DCM), to assist with all essential functions of the MIT Committee on Animal Care's (IACUC) administrative office which serves a community of nearly 150 research labs and 300 individual protocols; and act as a resource and a liaison between the MIT research community and DCM with the goals of maximizing animal welfare and scientific integrity. Responsibilities include participating in the protocol review process by administratively pre-reviewing animal use proposals, training proposal for veterinary review, determining the level of review required, and facilitating revision and responses between investigators and committee member reviewers; scheduling and leading semi-annual site visits to facilities and animal use areas, generating reports flagging deficiencies, and performing follow-up steps, including post-approval monitoring; assisting with the implementation of an in-house developed electronic protocol software, including training new users to submit research proposals; participating in providing administrative support to the CAC office by answering general email and phone calls and confirming researcher compliance with personnel training and occupational health requirements; and performing other duties as requested.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree, preferably in animal science, biology, or related field; a minimum of two years of administrative and/or program/project management experience, preferably direct IACUC regulatory experience; basic knowledge of issues pertaining to the use and care of animals in research, testing, and instruction; excellent organizational, record-keeping, and written communication skills; proficiency with computers and Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Adobe Acrobat; commitment to promoting research animal welfare and scientific integrity; and discretion and good judgment with confidential information and/or issues.
