Position Purpose
Reporting to the Office of Residential Education at Dartmouth, the Program Coordinator serves as an integral member of a specific House Community leadership team, dedicated to fostering community, continuity, and intellectual engagement. This position oversees the planning, coordination, and successful execution of House-sponsored events, ensuring that all events and initiatives are accessible, impactful, organized, and aligned with the mission of the House Communities and Residential Education. This onsite position requires flexibility to work during evenings and weekends as needed to support dynamic community building within a collegiate residential environment.

Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Event coordination or management experience.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with all campus constituencies, including House affiliates, institutional leaders, faculty, staff, students, and parents and families.
- Demonstrated autonomy in managing complex projects and logistics, balancing independence with effective collaboration in a dynamic environment.
- Proven commitment to personal and departmental integrity and professionalism.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace tools, and social media platforms.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to balance competing demands and perform well under pressure.
- Ability to work in an open and dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and shared workspace.
- Flexibility to attend night and weekend events as needed to support impactful House programming, and to adapt personal and professional schedules to the College’s termly year-round calendar.
- Demonstrated cultural competence; commitment to equity and inclusion, and proven effectiveness in serving the needs of a diverse undergraduate student population.

Key Accountabilities
Program Development & Coordination –
- Develops and executes large- and small-scale programs and initiatives aligned with the House Community and Residential Education mission and goals
- Proactively collaborates with House leadership, campus departments, and external partners to ensure smooth execution of House Community programs, requiring initiative and problem solving outside of standard business hours as needed
- Directly hires, trains, and supervises student(s) to support House Community programs and spaces
- Oversees the House Center space, facilities work orders, and reservations etc.
- Coordinates budget management for their specific House Community. Assists House colleagues in a shared execution of responsible budget stewardship; submits receipts, reimbursements, invoices, and other transactions for House Community expenses in a timely and accurate fashion. Prepares periodic financial reports and forecasts to department management regarding House Community budget
- Provides mentorship, support, and appropriate referrals to resources for other House student staff including graduate resident fellows and undergraduate advisors
- Facilitates continuous program tracking and improvement in partnership with House Professors and Assistant Directors by tracking attendance, gathering feedback, and maintaining accurate records to inform program enhancements
- Organizes all logistical details and RSVPs for House Community events
- Manages supplies and ordering for House Center and House Community including the maintenance of an organized and current inventory of House Community storage
- Exercises autonomy and responsible judgement in resolving event management issues, maintaining effective campus and vendor partnerships, and adapting programs to meet institutional and departmental priorities
- May be asked to serve on working groups or committees within Residential Education pertaining to the maintenance of a strong and effective House System
- May be asked to support or contribute to other key department functions and processes as a member of the Residential Education team

Communication & Collaboration –
- Maintains accurate House membership and communication lists
- Collaborates with House Community team to distribute House Community communications, marketing materials to House members
- Manages House email account, responding to all inquiries promptly and professionally
- Cultivates strong relationships with other campus centers, programs and departments to coordinate House programs, space reservations, and event scheduling
- Collaborates with leadership teams and students from within and outside of their House Community to facilitate activities and events, and to ensure consistent approaches in the House Communities across campus
- Oversees House-specific digital platforms including websites, shared event calendars, and social media channels, or other online marketing tools for the Houses, and for publicity and outreach purposes
- Maintains organized digital records and archives for the House Community
- Represents the Houses effectively to affiliated House students, alumni, faculty, and staff, and to other campus community members and prospective students
- Co-creates newsletters, reports, and other publications with House Community team for distribution among House affiliates and other connected audiences
