Primary Purpose of the Organization: Fayetteville State University’s College Access Programs is designed to provide low-income/potential first-generation students (enrolled in grades 6-12) and low-income/first-generation college students with academic support services that will enhance their academic skills, thereby ensuring that these students will complete high school and enroll in and complete programs of postsecondary education. Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) mission is to increase the number of adult participants who enroll in postsecondary education institutions by providing academic advising and information on college admissions, financial literacy and financial aid.
Primary Purpose of the Position: The coordinator reports and works under the supervision of the Director of the Office of College Access Programs. The coordinator assists the Director with implementation of the goals and objectives of Educational Opportunity Centers and assists with administrative responsibilities. The coordinator develops working arrangements with appropriate schools, community agencies, military agencies and other organizations. Coordinate staff schedules to the appropriate sites in the counties that are served. This position is funded by non-state funding. Continuation of this position is contingent upon the continuing availability of those non-state funds.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree in Education, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, Communications, Human Resource Development, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an educational or student services setting.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of the PK–16 educational pipeline and college access initiatives.
- Working knowledge of Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Uniform Guidance, and TRIO regulations.
- Ability to develop and implement evidence-based programs that promote college access and student success.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team-building abilities.
- Ability to build effective relationships with students, families, educational institutions, and community partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with professionalism, initiative, and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing programs that support college access and success for low-income, first-generation, and underserved students
- Experience with TRIO, GEAR UP, or other federally or state-funded college access programs.
- Experience managing grants, including budget administration.
- Experience collaborating with university faculty, administrators, community organizations, and educational partners.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting program data.
- Experience preparing reports for grant funders and other stakeholders.
- Experience hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff.
