Organizational Unit Overview
The Division of Student Affairs comprises over 30 departments, each responsible for providing various student support, services, and educational programs accessible to the university community. With over 300 full-time employees and over 1200 student workers, the Division supports Pirate success through environments that enhance student development, engagement, belonging, well-being, and career readiness.
Job Duties
The primary functions of this position include: coordination of the Involvement Ambassador program, creating programming for first-year students (both new and transfers), and coordinating the sophomore student experience.
Involvement Ambassador Program (40%)
- Manage student participants which include making assignments (over 1,200 transfers and 4,000 freshmen), managing caseloads and interactions, providing support to mentors, and intervening when appropriate.
- Design and implement a training program for Ambassadors that includes informational interviewing, referral techniques, campus resource information, and engagement opportunities.
- Connect and refer students to resources that support student success.
- Serve as advisor to the ECU Ambassadors.
- Marketing and outreach of the program.
First-Year, Sophomore, and Transfer Programming (35%)
- Plan and implement opportunities designed for first-year and transfer students that aid in a successful transition to ECU.
- Work on developmentally appropriate programming for sophomore students.
- Coordinate marketing and outreach efforts.
- Collaborate with departmental, divisional, and campus partners on programming and communication plans that support retention efforts.
Administrative (25%)
- Serve a key role in the coordination of the Pirate Perch program.
- Assist with other programs and services offered by the unit.
- Manage budgets and expenditures.
- Teach one section of the freshman seminar (COAD 1000) in both fall and spring semesters.
- Attend staff meetings, divisional events, and other university meetings as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience
Masters degree; or Bachelors degree with two years of related experience
