"Program Manager"

Position Summary

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Manager for the Residential Program (Brandt Retreat) Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The primary purpose of the Program Manager is to provide administrative and clinical oversight of the programs, and supervision to program staff. Responsible for the management of operations, the administration and funding for the residential programs in Newark, Middlesex and Camden counties. Assures program viability and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Duties:

• Directs the administrative and clinical organization of the program, as observed in team meetings, daily schedule, and quality of program.
• Plans, trains and supervises the work of others engaged in professional and paraprofessional delivery of program specific services.

• Counsels a caseload of consumer/patients and/or families with empathy and concern, as monitored by feedback from consumer/patients, family members, peers and supervisory observations.
• Completes all documentation within prescribed time frame as monitored by documentation reports, supervisory tools and chart review.
• Demonstrates knowledge of professional standards and practices in the field of mental health and rehabilitative services.
• Completes Employee Health Update as required.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Master's Degree in a behavioral health field and five (5) years of postgraduate experience in mental health services, with two (2) years supervisory/managerial experience. An appropriate doctorate may be substituted for two (2) years of relevant experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical Demands:

Ability to walk throughout the day, travel from site to site, visit consumer residents in their homes throughout Camden and Middlesex County. Walk up stairs, drive, and stand for extended periods of time. Frequently walks, bends, stretches, and pulls. Manual dexterity and mobility for charting.

Work Environment:

Residential settings located throughout Middlesex and Camden Counties. Residential environment in large urban apartment buildings, and suburban complexes and residential single family homes. Fast paced, intense work environment. May be required to manage an agitated consumer.
