About the role:
The Program Manager for Watson Research Initiatives manages, organizes, and prioritizes the administrative, financial, and operational needs of a variety of research initiatives, including the Climate Solutions Lab, in partnership with their respective faculty director.
Major responsibilities:
Management of Climate Solutions Lab Programming:
Works closely with the Climate Solutions Lab director to develop and enhance the CSL's activities and research projects. Manages the onboarding of new hires and invited researchers as short-term guests of the center. Manages the day-to-day operations of the Lab, including office management and oversight of its $300k budget. Oversees all aspects of a growing and complex event schedule including workshops, seminars, podcasts, and conferences.
Management of Research Programs, Initiatives and the development of new Watson Centers:
Serves as the operational lead for emerging initiatives at the Watson School, overseeing the comprehensive administrative, financial, and personnel functions required to scale new research programs.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, advanced degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in program management, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
- Experience in higher education is preferred.

- Basic academic research skills.
- Basic knowledge of climate change and responses including climate resilience, risks, mitigation, and adaptation.

- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
