Program Support Coordinator
The Program Support Coordinator provides administrative support for the School of Behavioral Sciences. The Program Support Coordinator is supervised by various supervisors depending on the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program Support Coordinator (PSC) assists in processing applications to the BSSW and MSW programs and facilitates the gatekeeping process to help ensure that students have a thorough understanding of the profession of social work. The PSC engages students in this self-assessment process to ensure that students are a good fit for the program and profession. Developing and maintaining the admissions, gatekeeping, and tracking systems; assisting applicants; participating in student interviews to determine readiness for a professional social work program; and advising students to support them through the program are key aspects of the PSC’s role. The PSC also supports the program through data tracking and analysis and assists the Chair, Program Director, and Director of Field Education in other programmatic and accreditation matters. The PSC communicates with other teams within the department and other university departments to facilitate collaboration, as well.
The candidate is to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly through oral and written correspondence to students, faculty, staff, and community members. The candidate is to be both professional and graceful while handling multiple projects and interacting with students. The candidate must have strong organizational skills and be calm and positive in difficult situations. The candidate is expected to work well both independently and as part of a team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree, plus 2 years of administrative experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent interviewing skills
Preferred:
- Master’s degree plus 2 or more years of administrative experience
- Experience in the social work or human services profession
- Customer service experience
- Interviewing experience

- Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
- Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.
Driving Requirements
Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.
The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.
