Job Description
The Program Support Technician serves as first point of contact for two program areas in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and manages all wage payroll needs. The assigned program areas are the Transportation Infrastructure and Systems Engineering (TISE) and the Land Development Design Industry (LDDI). log; support faculty work on committees; assist faculty with paperwork and tracking of international visiting scholar; place, track, and receive HokieMart and Purchasing Card orders; monitor and answer the main office phone. Manage wage payroll by hiring all wage employees including emergency hires and student wage. Complete new hire paperwork including I9s, manage Banner Time Entry and complete bi-monthly wage reconciliations.
Required Qualifications
Administrative support experience in an academic or professional office environment; Demonstrated ability to ability to work independently and as part of a team; Work history that would exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills; Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to effectively manage multiple priorities; Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Considerable experience in an academic office environment or education/training in related field; Knowledge of VT policies, procedures, and systems such as Hokie Mart, Banner, Banner Time Entry, Emburse, Micro Strategy Reporting, and DEPART.
