About the role
Join our dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient administration of the Faculty of Engineering & Design’s taught degree programmes. Working closely with both professional services and academic colleagues, you’ll help ensure an excellent experience for our students.
As part of a small, collaborative team, flexibility and teamwork are key. Your primary focus will be on assessment-related processes throughout the academic and student lifecycle, but you’ll also provide day-to-day administrative support for teaching, assessment, and student data management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining accurate student records on the University's database.
- Assisting with core assessment and progression activities across departments.
- Taking responsibility for the preparation and timely provision of accurate student assessment and progression data reports for the Faculty’s Boards of Examiners.
- Supporting Directors of Studies and liaising with external examiners.
- Responding to enquiries from students and academic staff.
If you’re organised, adaptable, and enjoy working collaboratively within a supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A considerate team-focused mindset. Supporting colleagues and contributing constructively to a collaborative working environment.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills. Managing multiple tasks and deadlines with ease. Maintaining accurate records and tracking student progress.
- Strong digital skills. Comfortable working with university systems, and programme records. Confidence to quickly learn and embrace evolving digital platforms.
- Great communication skills. Engaging confidently with students, academic colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- A proactive approach. Taking initiative and working with autonomy when needed.
Experience in the use of university-specific software (e.g. Moodle, SAMIS/SITS, Business Objects and PowerBI) is desirable, though not essential, since training will be provided. Most important is an interest in our work, a willingness to become fully involved in both team business, and the life of the faculty and its departments.
