Programme Manager (Decarbonisation Programme Office)

Job Description

To help decarbonise Singapore’s energy and industrial sectors, CREATE launched a S$90 million Thematic Programme in Decarbonisation in October 2024 to further national research into areas such as hydrogen utilisation and production of greener chemicals and sustainable fuels. The Programme Office (PO) hosted at NUS is responsible for post-award management of the Decarbonisation Programme, overseeing various aspects including finances, operations, research, stakeholder engagement, and other administrative matters.

Role as a Programme Manager in the PO

  • To support the overall management of the Decarbonisation Programme and ensure that the programme adheres to best practices and timelines as outlined in the Letter-of-Award.
  • Monitor research timelines, deliverables, and financials particularly for projects in the Biochemical Transformations cluster in collaboration with CREATE entities with support from the National Research Foundation (NRF) grants team.
  • Foster intramural collaborations and create synergies between different projects to enhance research outcomes.
  • Support the outreach events and meetings, e.g., Steering Committee (SC) and Programme Assessment Committee (PAC) meetings.
  • Support the engagement of stakeholders within the Research, Innovation, and Enterprise (RIE) ecosystem, including industry players, to ensure coordination and alignment.
  • Liaising with and paying special attention to two synthetic biology project teams within the programme, which will include being embedded within their regular group meetings, conducting periodic site/lab visits, etc.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary education in science and/or engineering or adjacent disciplines; advanced degrees and working experience in a research-based environment engaging with different stakeholders would be preferred. A background in Synthetic Biology is a requirement for this position.
  • Strong interest in cutting-edge science (especially synthetic biology), and with a broad sense of perspective. The candidate should also possess strong analytical abilities and organisational skills, with experience in programme management.
  • The candidate should be independent, meticulous, resourceful, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of safety: Familiarity with safety management systems in laboratory and pilot-scale test bed is strongly preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written) with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and professional groups.
