Job Summary

As Programme Manager Human-Centric AI at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, you will help researchers develop AI solutions that enhance human health, well-being, and societal participation. This role focuses on deploying AI technologies in fields like health, social sciences, humanities, and sustainability, while facilitating collaborations and securing funding.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop collaboration opportunities where AI and digital technologies enable research in health, life sciences, social sciences, humanities, and sustainability.
• Connect VU researchers to industry, healthcare organizations, government, societal partners, and other academic partners for AI-driven projects.
• Position VU Amsterdam in national and international AI-related initiatives and funding programs, such as the National AI-Factory, NWO, ELSA Labs, NGF’s, Horizon Europe, and other international initiatives.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations to address societal challenges using AI technologies.
• Monitor trends in AI applications, such as data-driven healthcare, responsible AI, and federated learning, and share insights with stakeholders.
• Organize workshops, networking events, and knowledge exchange sessions around AI-enabled research themes.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in research and valorization domains.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Hold a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Life Sciences, Health Data, Social Sciences, Humanities, or equivalent background in innovation or business development in tech domains.
• Have several years of experience in programme management, innovation management, or business development, ideally in AI, digitalization, or data-driven domains.
• Demonstrate a solid track record in building partnerships between academia, industry, government, and civil society.
• Be familiar with AI developments and challenges, especially responsible AI, data privacy, and ethics.
• Possess a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset, be proactive, and take ownership.
• Enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary environment where technology meets societal needs.
• Be fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

What the Employer Offers

A fixed-term contract for 1 year, with possible extension up to 48 months. On a full-time basis, the salary ranges from €4,537 to €7,056 per month, depending on education and experience. The position is at least 0.8 FTE and based on external funding. You will work in a professional team at VU Campus, engaging with stakeholders and innovations for societal progress, with opportunities for personal development and network strengthening.
