Efforts will focus on implementing predictive and analytic models of infectious disease, deploying these models in response to disease threats, and implementing accessible data displays on web-based dashboards. This position will collaborate with a dynamic network of scientists and public health practitioners to lead the development of solutions to problems that have direct impacts on population health. Successful candidates will join the newly formed Atlantic Coast Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics and Analytics ( ACCIDDA ). ACCIDDA is part of the newly formed CDC -funded national network of centers of excellence for Outbreak Analytics and Disease Modeling ( OADM ), named Insight Net. ACCIDDA includes the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, the University of Florida and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In addition to being a Center of Innovation, ACCIDDA serves as the coordinating center for Insight Net. Work with this center will provide numerous opportunities to work with other Insight Net centers and public health partners, as well as have a direct impact on the work of the CDC Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics. Education and Experience: Experience with version control systems such as GitHub, cloud- or cluster-based computing, systems management, statistical programming or mechanistic modeling, interactive data visualization (e.g., dashboards), and experience working with scientific or public health groups. Essential Skills: Experience in general purpose and scientific programming languages (e.g., R, Python, C, Julia). Skills in communicating technical information, an ability to work independently, experience with quality control and/or writing test cases, and a proven ability to document code and/or software products.
