Organization Profile: Established in 1984, the CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (Imtech) is one among the chain of 38 national laboratories, 6 units, and 39 outreach centers of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambiance in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers. In September 1989, upon completion of the permanent campus, the Institute shifted to occupy an area of about 47 acres, of which the labs covered 22 acres and the residential campus 25 acres. The Institute covering a built-up area of about 3.60 lakh sq. ft., is spread over four main buildings, namely, Main R&D block, Fermentation block, Animal House, Workshop, Stores, and Services area, several service buildings including a guest house and Cafeteria.

Project titled: “Advanced Technological Leads for Assuring safety of food (ATLAS)”

Essential Educational Qualification: (i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/ MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and (ii) 2 years experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.

Desirable: Candidates having experience in immunoassays, food microbiology, food safety standards, bacterial enrichment methods, food sample processing for food testing, bioassay designing, lateral flow immunoassay and colloidal nanoparticle based assays.

Job Location: Chandigarh

Pay Scale: (i) Rs. 35,000/- +HRA to Scholars who are selected through a (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and Institutions. (ii) Rs. 28,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above
