Are you an experienced project manager who thrives in complex, multi-partner environments?
We have an exciting opportunity to join our NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR) funded project. You will support a major longitudinal study exploring social care support for people with neurodisability in prison and during their transition into the community.
About the Project - Navigating Neurodisability Through the Prison Gates is a co-produced study delivered in partnership with Access Social Care, Revolving Doors, NHS RECONNECT, prisons, probation services, and local authorities. As the operational backbone of the project, you will ensure systems run smoothly and the research team is supported to deliver high-quality, inclusive work.
What You Will Do - In this varied role, you will oversee day-to-day management across five work packages. Key responsibilities include:
- Operational Coordination: Manage logistics, access, and scheduling across prisons, probation, and community sites.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the key contact for prison governors, neurodiversity teams, NHS RECONNECT, and third-sector partners.
- Financial Management: Manage project expenditure, forecasting, and purchasing, including overseeing payments for co-researchers in custody (following MoJ guidance).
- Governance & Compliance: Maintain risk registers, support ethical approval processes (HMPPS, HRA), and ensure strict GDPR compliance.
- Team Support: Assist the PI and Research Associate with interview schedules, advisory group meetings, and dissemination events.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a proactive, highly organised individual committed to inclusive, trauma-informed practice. You will have:
- A good honours degree or equivalent project management experience.
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-partner projects (ideally in research, social care, criminal justice, or the voluntary sector).
- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and resource management.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to EDI and co-production.
What We Offer
As part of the University of Sheffield and the SSCR community, you will join a supportive team with strengths in criminology and participatory research. We offer:
- Highly competitive annual leave.
- Flexible working options.
- A generous pension scheme.
- Access to wellbeing support, professional development, and retail discounts.
Diversity & Inclusion - We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles. Diversity strengthens our impact. If you are passionate about making a difference, we would love to hear from you.
