The Chair of Chemistry of Polymeric Materials in the Department of Polymer Engineering and Science has a position for a full-time Project Researcher (m/f/d).
Salary Group B1 according to the UNI-KV, monthly minimum salary excl. Szlg.: € 3.776,10 for 40 hours per week (14x per year), actual classification is according to previous relevant experience.
Date of expected start of employment: September 2026
Term of employment: 3 Years

Responsibilities
- Development, characterization, and optimization of polymer recyclates from post-consumer recycling (PCR) and end-of-life vehicles (ELV) for the vehicles of tomorrow.
- Characterization of PCR and ELV plastic streams in terms of composition, impurities, and material variability
- Conducting and evaluating physical, chemical, and thermal material analyses including FTIR, DSC, TGA, MFR, rheology, DMA, GC-MS, HPLC, SEM
- Development of new polymer formulations through the targeted use of fillers, reinforcing fibers, additives, and adhesion promoters
- Optimization of processing and compounding to improve mechanical properties, dimensional stability, and process stability
Employment requirements
- A completed degree (MSc. or Dipl.-Ing.) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, polymer engineering, or a comparable field of study
- In-depth knowledge in the areas of polymer materials, polymer characterization, and data analysis
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in standard Office software
- Willingness to publish research and participate in international conferences
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Analytical way of thinking

- Knowledge of polymer processing and statistical experimental design (DoE)
- Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working in interdisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational skills and a structured, independent, and reliable work style
- Good time management and self-management skills

- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with various contacts in a respectful and professional manner
