As an Academic Specialist at the Bio21 Melbourne Protein Characterisation Platform, you will lead the operation the Bio21-WEHI crystallisation facility including optimisation of crystallisation equipment, providing scientific advice and engaging in collaborative method development. You will have the opportunity to foster partnerships with academic and industry scientists, cand drive the strategic goals of the facility.
- Provide Expertise and Advice: Offer high-level scientific advice to facility clients and support research projects with advanced expertise.
- Oversee and Maintain Crystallisation Equipment: Manage day-to-day operations of crystal hotels and robotics, ensuring efficient use and maintenance.
- Develop and Deliver Training Programs: Create and implement training for staff, students, and external users on instrumentation and data analysis.
- Foster Collaborative Partnerships: Engage with external networks and develop a client base to promote collaborative research initiatives.
You hold a PhD in biophysics or structural biology, with advanced expertise in protein crystallisation and a collaborative approach to drive scientific innovation.
- Possess advanced hands-on research experience using robotics for crystallisation screens.
- Have high-level interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrate leadership skills to provide strategic advice and drive facility goals.
- Be adaptable and flexible, contributing actively to team priorities and collaborative efforts.
- Have a track record of high-quality research publications in structural biology.
