PRT Utility Worker - Transportation
About the Opportunity:
The PRT Utility Worker - Transportation, provides skilled general labor functions necessary to support the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the PRT system. This position, as directed, works various shifts (including weekend days), overtime as assigned and performs on site throughout the transit system, indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.
What You'll Do:
- Provides skilled general labor support to the PRT Maintenance effort by performing tasks such as:
- Performs basic scheduled maintenance inspections and minor repairs to a variety of PRT electrical, mechanical and structural installations and ancillary equipment.
- Assists maintenance technicians in performing scheduled maintenance actions and repairs to all PRT systems
- Sets up PRT vehicles for positioning on, or removal from, PRT guideway
- Performs as an active member of a vehicle recovery team to remove disabled/failed PRT vehicle from guideway
- Performs and/or assists in performing masonry and carpentry repairs to the guideway and structures
- Participates in emergency teams of maintenance personnel.
- Inspects, monitors and secures PRT buildings and passenger stations
- Support the collection of money from PRT fare gates
- Routinely communicates with other PRT personnel via handheld portable radio.
- Participates in vehicle and guideway de-icing activities
- Operates overland motor vehicles
- Operates specially equipped motor vehicle within the confines of the PRT guideway
- Provides general labor as assigned
- Performs painting activities
- Drives overland response vehicles to transport personnel and equipment
- Accounts of all employee hours and materials used
- Performs snow removal from PRT guideway and equipment
- As assigned, supports PRT operation for special events
- Attends training sessions as assigned
- Responsible for assigned keys and the access they provide
- As assigned, performs light maintenance as necessary within the PRT system
- As assigned, performs light maintenance and cleaning associated with 73 PRT vehicles
- As assigned, performs custodial services as necessary within the PRT System
- Makes recommendations for hardware and procedural changes
Pay Grade:11
Hours: 10pm - 6 am
Qualifications
- Up to 18 months education beyond high school in a vocational field such as mechanical or electrical required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of one (1) year demonstrated general trades maintenance or mechanics experience
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
