Psychiatry Open Track/Rank - Addiction Program

Additional Information:

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is seeking faculty members (open rank) to join our Addiction Program and enhance our research mission. Successful candidates will have a strong record of external research funding, or high potential for extramural funding, as well as experience in developing, leading or substantially contributing to research, education, and clinical programs. Faculty responsibilities include advancing an externally funded program of research, publishing research in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals, mentoring trainees across levels of academic development, and participating in division, department, college and university committees and initiatives. The specific research focus within the field of substance use disorders remains open. Applicants with expertise in randomized clinical trial designs, overdose risk, and treatment recovery are particularly encouraged to apply.

OSU Psychiatry and Behavioral Health has a rapidly growing research faculty, with over 20 tenure track faculty, and includes projects in neuromodulation, neurocomputation, interventional psychiatry, personalized medicine approaches, neural and behavioral mechanisms underlie risk for such illnesses, and innovative treatment modalities and strategies for prevention and treatment. The Addiction Program is embedded in our multidisciplinary environment such that research opportunities exist within clinical service delivery models.

Requirements:

Applicants must have an advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D.), with specialization in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program and following accredited training pathways in alignment with suitability for licensure and clinical practice in the State of Ohio. In some cases, individuals with substantial research programs and funding but without clinical training or eligibility may be considered for this role (e.g., Ph.D., in Cognitive Neuroscience or similar), provided they are actively interested in and demonstrate prior commitment to training clinical professionals and supporting clinical care. Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
