Psychology Instructor - Part-time Adjunct Pool

Kern Community College District is seeking applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary is $65.00/hour, which may vary based on assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent formula.

Basic Function

Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Applications remain active for up to two years and are used to contact qualified applicants as needs arise.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's in psychology
• OR Bachelor's in psychology AND Master's in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work
• OR the equivalent, as determined by the district
• A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students

Degrees must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees require evaluation by a NACES or ACEI member.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Ability to work effectively with colleagues and students in a diverse environment
• Ability to develop curriculum, including via different modalities
• Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated ability to maintain subject matter currency
• Ability to assess student learning outcomes
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies
• Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission
