Job Summary

The college seeks part-time faculty members in multiple disciplines to teach in the Dual Enrollment program in the following disciplines and must meet minimum qualifications to teach in those areas: Anthropology, Biology, Business, Communications, Computer Science, Counseling, Digital Media, Early Childhood Development, Engineering, Environmental Science, Ethnic Studies, Health, Kinesiology, Music, Psychology, Sign Language and Sociology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Teach Early College Credit/Dual Enrollment courses at participating high school campuses;
2. Develop and evaluate curricula appropriate to the different learning needs of students and develop student learning outcomes;
3. Foster an engaging classroom atmosphere conducive to learning for all students;
4. Implement and keep updated with contemporary teaching methods and technologies suitable for a diverse student body;
5. Remain informed about the latest standards and regulations set by state accrediting agencies for the program and its curriculum;
6. Offer guidance to students through scheduled office hours;
7. Work collaboratively with fellow program faculty and staff to employ assessment strategies aimed at optimizing instruction and enhancing student achievement;
8. Fulfill additional responsibilities as outlined in the contract, collective bargaining agreement, and institutional requirements promptly and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

Anthropology: Masters in anthropology or archaeology OR Bachelors in either of the above AND Masters in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics or paleontology OR the equivalent.

Biology: Masters in any biological science OR Bachelors in any biological science AND Masters in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR the equivalent.

Business: Masters in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureaus (LL.B.) OR Bachelors in economics with a business emphasis AND Masters in personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureaus (LL.B.) OR the equivalent.

Communication Studies: Masters in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in drama/theater arts, mass communication or English OR the equivalent.

Computer Science: Masters in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelors in either of the above AND Masters in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR Bachelors in engineering AND Masters in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelors in mathematics AND Masters in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelors degree in any of the above AND A masters degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR the equivalent.

Counseling: Masters in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent. (NOTE: A bachelors degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)

Digital Media: Any Bachelors degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Early Childhood Development (ECD): Masters in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies OR the equivalent.

Engineering: Masters in any field of engineering OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology OR the equivalent. (NOTE: A bachelors in any field of engineering with a professional engineers license is an alternative qualification for this discipline)

Environmental Science: Masters in the interdisciplinary area OR Masters in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area and upper division or graduate course work in at least one other constituent discipline.

Ethnic Studies: Masters in African-American /Black/Africana Studies or Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian-American Studies, or Native American/American Indian Studies OR Masters in Ethnic Studies OR the equivalent.

Health: Masters in health science, health education, biology, nursing, physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, dietetics, nutrition or public health OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in any biological science OR the equivalent.

Kinesiology: Masters degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education OR Bachelors degree in any of the above AND Masters degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy OR the equivalent.

Music: Masters in music OR Bachelors in music AND Masters in humanities OR the equivalent.

Psychology: Masters in psychology OR Bachelors in psychology AND Masters in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience or social work OR the equivalent.

Sign Language, American: Bachelors degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Sociology: Masters in sociology OR Bachelors in sociology AND Masters in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social work or psychology OR the equivalent.

Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Experience working in a K-12 environment with racially minoritized, low socio-economic students.
