PT - Instructor, Fire Science
Salary: $26.89 per hour
Summary of Function:
Teaches Firefighter I & II, Haz-Mat Awareness & Operation skills, and lectures for the Fire Programs, ensuring instruction adheres to all applicable regulating agencies and guidelines.
Typical Duties:
- Serves Students. Teach emergency services courses as assigned and oversee the daily program operations including project management and assigning reinforcement learning activities for students.
- Set up and break down equipment for use during practical skills training. Teach skills in accordance with the educational standards and the course syllabi, through both lectures and practical hands-on education. Courses may include theory, practical application, skills training, or live scenarios.
- Support Fire Programs leadership by coordinating regular program reviews to ensure effectiveness and alignment with the college mission and values as well as the community workforce needs.
- Identify student-learning outcomes, develop processes and tools for assessment, and incorporate student data to modify instructional materials. Design, develop and update program curriculum as assigned.
- Promote emergency services programs through local, regional, and national partners. Serve on local and state committees as directed by Fire Programs leadership.
- Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree, certificate, licensure at the highest level being taught, OR
- Qualify under the occupational experience requirement for career, technical, and professional credential fields with three full-time years (or equivalent).
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Certified Firefighter I & II
- Arizona Fire Instructor I
- Active as a full-time Firefighter or inactive after retirement/disabled in good standing as full-time with a Fire Department.
- Successfully complete the Arizona Fire Instructor II within five years of initial employment and submit certification.
- Arizona Driver's License or Equivalent
Preferred, not required: Certified and in good standing with the National Registry or AZDHS as an EMT or Paramedic; Arizona Fire Instructor II or Instructional Methodologies certified
