Job Summary

The Chabot - Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, Machine Tool Technology for Chabot College. Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in: Reading and interpreting of part prints; creating process plans to machine parts to designated specifications; safe and accurate operation of manual and/or CNC lathes and mills; introduction to tool geometry and creation; introduction to heat treatment and metallurgy; introduction to surface grinding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Instruct students in the fundamentals of machining on manual and/or CNC lathes and mills including safety, accurate and efficient set ups, calculation of: feeds, speeds, depths, and related properties of material removal;
2. Maintain standard best shop practices when it comes to machine handling and maintenance: how to avoid machine damage/personal injury, maintain shop cleanliness, tool check in/out;
3. Coordinate with colleagues and staff to ensure a high standard of education is maintained throughout the Machine Tool Technology Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree(s) or higher and two years of professional experience, and/or other specifications as noted, or specifically named associate degree(s) and six years of professional experience.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Recent community college or lower division teaching experience;
2. Expertise in field of course(s) to be taught;
3. Preferred software platforms: MasterCAM and SolidWorks.
