"PT Instructor, Machine Tool Technology"

Job Summary

The Chabot - Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, Machine Tool Technology for Chabot College. Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in: Reading and interpreting of part prints; creating process plans to machine parts to designated specifications; safe and accurate operation of manual and/or CNC lathes and mills; introduction to tool geometry and creation; introduction to heat treatment and metallurgy; introduction to surface grinding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Instruct students in the fundamentals of machining on manual and/ or CNC lathes and mills including safety, accurate and efficient set ups, calculation of: feeds, speeds, depths, and related properties of material removal;
2. Maintain standard best shop practices when it comes to machine handling and maintenance: how to avoid machine damage/ personal injury, maintain shop cleanliness, tool check in/out;
3. Coordinate with colleagues and staff to ensure a high standard of education is maintained throughout the Machine Tool Technology Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree(s) or higher and two years of professional experience, and/or other specifications as noted, or specifically named associate degree(s) and six years of professional experience.

Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Recent community college or lower division teaching experience;
2. Expertise in field of course(s) to be taught;
3. Preferred software platforms: MasterCAM and SolidWorks.

Salary: $2,075.12/CAH - $2,322.27/CAH Faculty Salary Schedule
