PT Instructor, Music – Applied Lessons in High Strings
Job Summary
The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, Music – Applied Lessons in High Strings for Las Positas College. Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in applied lessons in viola and violin.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach approximately 9 hours of lessons each semester to music majors studying violin or viola;
- Check and respond to campus email regularly and attend one Applied meeting each semester;
- Motivate students of all abilities and backgrounds, and adopt instructional techniques to accommodate various learning styles.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's in music OR Bachelor's in music AND Masters in humanities OR the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications:
- Successful track record of teaching applied lessons, preferably at the college level;
- An active performance career as a violinist and/or violist;
- Overall high levels of engagement with the campus and student body.
