PT STUDENT SUCCESS COACH - HUSKY HYPE-UP SUMMER PROGRAM
Position Summary
The Student Success Coach assists and guides students participating in the Husky Hype-Up Summer Program through early intervention, identifying barriers to success, and directing students to resources within the College and community that support student success, as appropriate. The Student Success Coach develops, implements, and supports the daily delivery of services to students and is responsible for the maintenance of records, evaluation of activities, and preparation of reports related to assigned students. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Success, the Student Success Coach is a collaborative services role focused on retention management, outreach, intervention, and student support for participants in the Husky Hype-Up Summer Program.
This is a temporary, grant-funded position supporting the eight-week Husky Hype-Up Summer Program and is expected to conclude in August 2026.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides an essential student service by preparing and supporting students participating in the Husky Hype-Up Summer Program. From orientation activities prior to the program beginning to routine follow-up and outreach throughout the summer, the Student Success Coach will serve as a pillar of support for program participants.
- Provides proactive mentoring and coaching for students to support successful participation in the Husky Hype-Up Summer Program. Conducts needs assessments of students and coordinates the development and implementation of action plans for each student, monitoring participation and progress, intervening with appropriate support services when necessary, and referring students to appropriate internal and community-based resources as needed.
- Engages at-risk, underserved, first-generation, low-income, and other students in need by providing one-on-one intervention, support, monitoring, and encouragement throughout the program.
- Supports the Husky Hype-Up Summer Program by assisting in the recruitment of participants; developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating student success activities, workshops, and personal development opportunities; advocating on behalf of students when appropriate; ensuring students meet program participation expectations; and encouraging retention and engagement by providing guidance and support.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with college and community representatives and students by serving on committees, attending workshops and conferences, participating in division meetings, and remaining current in student success practices and available support resources. Attends College and community activities and events to interact with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Develops and implements procedures for intake, monitoring, referral tracking, and assessment of student progress in accordance with program and grant guidelines. Tracks program activities and assists with documentation and reporting requirements associated with grant funding.
Requirements
- Associate degree in a related field.
- Minimum three years of work-related experience assisting, coaching, mentoring, advising, or assessing students and/or clients in academic, workforce, human services, or life-skills settings.
- Experience working with low-income, first-generation, underserved, or diverse student populations preferred.
