Summary of Job Duties: The Public Safety Officer is responsible for the enforcement of traffic and criminal laws, institutional policies, and parking regulations at an institution of higher education. This position is governed by law enforcement standards, and departmental and institutional policy. It works under general supervision in a team-oriented setting. The position reports to department chain-of-command consisting of Lieutenant and Chief.
Required Education and/or Work Experience: Must be a United States Citizen, at least 21 years of age, free of felony convictions, free of domestic abuse convictions, of good character, possess high school diploma or equivalent, valid motor vehicle operator’s license with safe driving record, steady work history, and be certified as a police officer in Arkansas within 12 months of employment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Patrol University properties; operate emergency vehicles; investigate incidents; provide emergency first-aid; use tactics including force as trained; provide assistance; detect and report breaches; maintain professional appearance; assist with special events; maintain positive work atmosphere; other duties as assigned.
Salary Information: $47,500
