About the Project
Self-funded Ph.D. research projects in Palynology
Professor Charles Wellman supervises self-funded Ph.D. research projects in Palynology hosted by the Centre for Palynology. These can encompass taxonomic, biostratigraphical or palaeoenvironmental (palynofacies) analysis. Project material can be provided either by the organization supporting the student or by the Centre for Palynology. Over the course of the Ph.D. project the student will be trained in all aspects of palynological research: sample collection, palynological sample preparation and…
lab management, microscopical analytical skills (LM and SEM), palynofacies analysis, techniques for analysis of thermal maturity and hydrocarbon potential, data handling and management using Stratabugs. The Centre for Palynology has been in existence since 1949 with over 300 graduating students (100+ Ph.D. and M.Phil. and 200+ M.Sc. and M.Res.).
