networks. Overcoming photon transmission losses and achieving loss-resilient state transfer across real-world quantum channels is therefore essential for scalable information processing.
This PhD project focuses on the design of photonic integrated circuit (PIC), and experimental benchmarking of advanced on-chip quantum teleportation protocols, leveraging recent breakthroughs in unconditional quantum teleportation and loss-resilient quantum networking using Dicke entanglement (e.g., Wang et al., arXiv:2609.33094; Pan et al., arXiv:2511.08951).
Funding Notes
The award will fund the full tuition fee and a maintenance stipend at the UKRI rate (currently £21,805 p.a.) for 3.5 years, as well as a research grant to support project costs.
Interested UK-only candidates are encouraged to contact Dr Imad Faruque to discuss your interest in and suitability for the project (i.faruque@sheffield.ac.uk).
