Radiation Safety Specialist
The Radiation Safety Specialist 2 serves as a lead for EH&S supporting radiotherapies for UCSF Health. The main scope of duties include helping prepare and decontaminate rooms used for in-patient radiation therapies, inspecting lead aprons, assisting in radioactive clearance/decommissioning activities, and assisting as needed in the receiving radioactive materials and managing of radioactive waste generated in the hospital. The radiation safety specialist works with other senior radiation safety specialists and serves as a team leader for setting up, surveying, and decontaminating patient rooms used for radiation therapies.
The Office of Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) is responsible for promoting environmental stewardship and a safe workplace at UCSF while helping to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to occupational safety and the environment.
