Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor or designee, the Receiving/Delivery Coordinator receives, delivers, and transports parcels, mail, lab specimens, and freight among sites to support critical campus operations

Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the receiving, delivering and transporting of parcels, mail (confidential material), lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, hazardous chemicals, biohazardous material, radioactive materials, scientific supplies, perishables and freight.
Deliveries of non-stock items for the hospital
From time to time deliver pallets and other material in support of other departments
Recognize hazardous and perishable materials for proper handling and storage
Ensure parcels are properly inspected and inventoried before delivery
Open, inventory, and enter non-stock clinical items received into the clinical in-bound tracking software prior to delivery
Responsible for accurate counts and delivery
Develop and maintain a functional understanding of electronic documentation requirements for proof of receipt and delivery, including the use of electronic proof of delivery and in-bound tracking software.
Look up insufficiently addressed parcels and deliver to the appropriate site/location
Prepare outgoing shipments
Courier parcels, mail, lab specimens, hazardous chemicals, biohazardous material, scientific supplies, confidential material, and freight in UMass Chan vehicles between buildings and sites
Transportation of passengers in UMass Chan vehicles between buildings and other locations.
Maintain vehicles. Refuel and inspect as needed
Develop understanding of OSHA guidelines and University policies
Assists in work site orientation and training for new employees
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma, or equivalent experience
3 years of experience in receiving and transportation of goods
Valid driver’s license
Proven ability to follow oral and written instructions, and perform basic arithmetic calculations
Physical ability to handle bulky and heavy stock items, equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs, and be able to walk long distances
Verbal ability to communicate effectively
Ability to perform manual and clerical tasks of some complexity according to a routine and organized procedure, such as PO lookups and delivering in an orderly fashion
Working knowledge of electronic manifest systems preferred. Proof of delivery (POD) experience preferred
Ability to work effectively in a team
Ability to travel to off-site locations
