Offer Description
Will carry out research and development activities with a high degree of autonomy and expertise, contributing to the design, development, testing, validation, and optimization of the models, applications, and digital tools used within the project. The candidate will coordinate and perform complex activities related to the processing and analysis of digital data, the development of specific models and methodologies, the preparation of technical and scientific documentation, as well as the development and integration of software applications for research purposes, including solutions based on virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies.

Skills/Qualifications
- Contribute to the development and processing of digital models using CAD applications and other specialized software tools, including 3D modeling software such as Blender;
- Participate in 3D scanning activities (laser scanning, photogrammetry, structured-light scanning), as well as in the acquisition and processing of the resulting point clouds, in order to create digital models of the objects and structures addressed within the project;
- Perform optimization, cleaning (retopology, polygon reduction, LOD preparation), and preparation of 3D models for integration into VR/AR/MR environments or digital manufacturing workflows;
- Carry out reverse engineering activities, including the reconstruction of parametric CAD models from scanned data using applications such as CATIA V5, 3DEXPERIENCE, and SolidWorks;
- Participate in the design and development of molds and other technological equipment intended for the manufacturing of prototypes and products;
- Perform kinematic, dynamic, and tolerance simulations of complex mechanisms using CAE modules integrated into CATIA, SolidWorks, and other specialized applications;
- Collect, organize, and process data resulting from documentation, scanning, and research activities;
- Develop and use software applications and scripts to automate data processing and management workflows;
- Develop virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) applications using platforms such as Unity and Unreal Engine for the documentation, visualization, and interactive valorization of cultural heritage;
- Use and integrate SDKs and frameworks specific to XR development, such as OpenXR, Meta XR SDK, ARCore, ARKit, and Vuforia, depending on the target platform and device;
- Design and implement user interactions (UX/UI) for immersive environments, including controller-based interactions, hand tracking, and gesture-based commands;
- Optimize the performance of VR/AR/MR applications, including rendering, 3D model loading, and frame rate, for standalone devices such as Meta Quest headsets;
- Integrate scanned 3D content and cultural heritage data into interactive VR/AR/MR environments intended for museum exhibitions and public dissemination;
- Implement, test, and debug immersive experiences across various platforms and hardware devices, with attention to functionality, ergonomics, and user experience;
- Contribute to the integration and use of digital technologies for the documentation, analysis, and valorization of cultural heritage;
- Participate in experiments, testing, and validation of the solutions developed within the project;
- Prepare technical documentation, research reports, and sections of scientific articles under the supervision of the principal investigator.
Specific Requirements
- The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering;
- The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the field;
- The candidate must have advanced knowledge of computer-aided design and experience in using 3DEXPERIENCE, CATIA V5, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, as well as 3D modeling applications such as Blender;
- The candidate must have knowledge of the simulation and kinematic and dynamic analysis of mechanical and mechatronic systems using CAD/CAE applications;
- The candidate must have knowledge of data acquisition through 3D scanning technologies, including laser scanning, photogrammetry, and structured-light scanning, as well as processing of the resulting point clouds;
- The candidate must have experience in optimizing, cleaning (retopology), and preparing 3D models for various applications, including visualization, VR/AR/MR, and digital manufacturing;
- The candidate must have knowledge of reverse engineering, including the reconstruction of parametric CAD models from scanned data;
- The candidate must have experience in the design and development of molds and other technological equipment intended for prototype manufacturing;
- The candidate must have experience in modeling and prototyping using digital manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing and computer-aided machining;
- The candidate must have experience in developing virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) applications using Unity and Unreal Engine;
- The candidate must have experience in using SDKs and frameworks specific to XR development, such as OpenXR, Meta XR SDK, ARCore, ARKit, and Vuforia;
- The candidate must have knowledge of user experience and user interface (UX/UI) design for immersive environments, including controller-based interactions, hand tracking, and gesture-based commands;
- The candidate must have experience in optimizing the performance of VR/AR/MR applications for standalone devices, such as Meta Quest headsets;
- The candidate must have strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills;
- The candidate must be highly motivated to work within an interdisciplinary team;
- The candidate must have a high level of proficiency in English.
