General Statement of Job
The Recruiting Specialist for the Division of Health Science Professions will support the U.S. Department of Labor grant deliverable by strengthening the healthcare workforce pipeline in the Rio Grande Valley through intentional recruitment, outreach, student engagement, enrollment tracking, and grant-aligned reporting.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Recruit eligible students, nontraditional learners, incumbent healthcare workers, adult learners, displaced workers, individuals seeking entry or advancement in healthcare careers, and other priority populations through grant objectives.
- Develop and implement a strategic recruitment plan for Health Science Professions programs and grant-supported healthcare pathways.
- Assists with recruitment activities with high schools, early college high schools, community organizations, healthcare employers, workforce partners, adult education programs, and regional stakeholders.
- Represent the Division of Health Science Professions at recruitment events, career fairs, school visits, employer meetings, community presentations, and grant-related outreach activities.
- Promote healthcare pathways to all Health Science Professions programs.
- Maintain a recruitment calendar and document outreach events, campus tours, attendance, contacts, referrals, and follow-up actions.
- Provide first-level guidance to prospective students healthcare career pathways.
- Conduct intake and follow-up with prospective students to identify any educational barriers including but not limited to academic, financial, transportation, childcare, technology, language, employment, or scheduling barriers.
- Refer students to appropriate institutional departments, including admissions, advising, financial aid, counseling, testing, tutoring, disability services, career services, and program faculty.
- Track participant progress from inquiry to application, admission, enrollment, program participation, completion, credential attainment, and employment or continued education.
- Support the U.S. DOL grant deliverable by increasing the number of eligible participants recruited, enrolled, retained, and successfully progressing in Health Science Professions pathways.
- Maintain documentation required for grant compliance, including outreach logs, participant contact records, eligibility documentation where applicable, referral records, enrollment data, progress updates, completion data, and employment-related information.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly, annual, and final grant reports by providing accurate recruitment, enrollment, retention, completion, and participant outcome data.
- Support recruitment of incumbent healthcare workers into upskilling, reskilling, bridge, apprenticeship, and credential pathways.
- Support targeted communication campaigns for prospective students, applicants, stop-outs, incumbent workers, and community partners.
- Maintain accurate and auditable records of recruitment activities, participant contacts, referrals, events, follow-up contacts, and student outcomes.
- Collaborate with Health Science Professions program chairs, faculty, staff, advising, admissions, financial aid, testing, student support services, continuing education, workforce programs, and employer partners.
- Support division-wide recruitment priorities that expand access to healthcare education and strengthen the regional workforce pipeline.
- Serves as Campus Security Authority
- Attends departmental and divisional staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required. Health Science or healthcare preferred.
- At least two (2) years of experience in Healthcare, or Educational setting preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
- Critical thinking and data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of student information systems.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others.
- Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements
