Recruitment Assistant (Student)
Summary
The Recruitment Assistant will be the point of contact for prospective students interested in the Environmental Science/Studies at American University at AU’s recruitment events and via emails, Zoom, and phone calls. Their will provide prospective students with information on the program and AU in general from a student perspective and conduct tours of relevant facilities on campus (research and teaching labs, community garden). Recruitment assistants must be an Environmental Science/Studies major. Engagement in campus life (clubs, events, sports, work on campus) and/or research experience with an Environmental Science professor are welcome. We plan on hiring several students in this position. They will coordinate their work with Dr. Aquila, Chair of the Environmental Science Department, and with the other recruitment assistants based on their availability.
Essential Functions
- Lead tours of the Environmental Science facilities in the Hall of Science.
- Connect with prospective students via email, phone, or Zoom.
- Staff the Environmental Science table at AU’s recruitment events (4-6 per academic year, on weekends).
- Present their research (past or current) in the research-focused events in the Hall of Science during the recruitment events.
- Write postcards to incoming students.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Part-time.
- Variable hours, about 10 hours over the course of the semester.
- Recruitment Assistants will be able to sign up for hours depending on their availability.
- Position start and end date is August 1, 2026 - July 31, 2027.
Salary Range
$18.40 per hour.
