The School of Foreign Languages at Henan University, originally established as the Preparatory School for Further Study in Europe and America in 1912, is one of the century-old schools within Henan University. Initially, three undergraduate programs were set up: English, French, and German. At present, it offers six undergraduate programs, namely English, Russian, Japanese, German, French, and Translation. It offers master’s programs, doctoral programs, and has a post-doctoral research station in the first-level discipline of Foreign Languages and Literature. It can confer professional master’s degrees, offering MTI (Master of Translation and Interpreting) and MED (Master of Education) programs. The discipline of Foreign Language and Literature is a provincial first-level key discipline (English Language and Literature is a first-level key-building discipline in Henan Province). The undergraduate program of English is recognized as a national-level specialty undergraduate program and a national-level comprehensive reform pilot undergraduate program.

We are committed to fostering interdisciplinary innovation, advancing global academic collaboration, and are currently recruiting talents in Literary Studies, Translation Studies, Applied Linguistics, Cross-Cultural Communication, Global Studies, Classical Studies, Educational Studies, Area Studies, Philosophical & Aesthetic Studies, etc.

Positions, Requirements & Benefits

1. Positions:

(I) Distinguished Professors / Chair Professors

• Internationally recognized academic reputation and influence in the relevant discipline.
• Leading scholar and academic leader in the relevant field.
• Significant and innovative research achievements.
• Senior professors or equivalent at world-leading universities or research institutions.

(II) Young Talents

• Have a doctoral degree and have achieved the academic level of associate professor/associate researcher or above.
• Have the academic development potential and independent innovation ability of a young academic leader.
• Be under the age of 40.

(III) Postdoctoral Researchers

• Hold a doctoral degree from a reputable domestic or overseas university.
• Be under the age of 35.
• Be a fresh Ph.D. graduate: within three years of receiving a doctorate.

2. Remuneration:

Salaries and benefits will be on a par with other Double First-Class Universities, with specific terms negotiable based on further discussion.

3. Start-up fund:

Negotiable according to actual demand.

4. Housing:

Housing assistance will be provided. Welfare apartments can be purchased if the requirements of the state and the university are met.

5. Children’s schooling:

Children of pre-school and compulsory education age can be arranged to attend the kindergartens and schools affiliated to Henan University.
