Regional Development Officer

Utica University, a comprehensive, independent, private institution located in the heart of Central New York, is seeking applicants for an exempt full-time Regional Development Officer (RDO) position within the Office of Advancement. The successful candidate shall have primary responsibility, through an assigned constituent region, for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Pioneer Society level donors, largely in the range of $1,000 – $10,000 for all purposes and designations within the established fundraising priorities for the University. The RDO will play a crucial role in helping to engage alumni through the four channels of engagement: Giving, Volunteering, Attending, and Connecting (G.V.A.C.). Responsibilities will include connecting alumni with each other, and back to the University, through a variety of affinities such as class year, professional/career networks, academic majors, and undergraduate clubs and activities. Working closely with alumni in the region, the RDO will play a collaborative role in comprehensive regional programming, including events, activities, and programs that celebrate the intellectual, social, and cultural life of the University.

The successful candidate should have exceptional written and verbal communications skills, demonstrate knowledge of various online social media platforms, and other platforms designed to capture philanthropic support; have strong organizational skills, great attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet various deadlines, maintain confidentiality, possess a high level of energy and work effectively with others; demonstrated high level of proficiency using a computer and the suite of Microsoft applications (e.g. Word and Excel). Knowledge of networked information systems (e.g., Slate, PeopleAdmin.) or other similar databases is highly desirable; have the ability to understand and implement University policies and procedures; and the ability to work a flexible schedule which at times will include working well into early evening hours as well as working at Office of Advancement sponsored events on and off campus which include, but are not limited to, Homecoming and Commencement.
