Title: Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Educator
Position Purpose:
The Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Educator is responsible for providing individual nutrition counseling to students on campus and working with campus partners to develop and implement nutrition education for the full student population. The Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Educator works with Dining, Conferences, and Campus Events to provide clinical perspective on departmental operations and initiatives.
Job Duties:
Individual Nutrition Counseling:
- Provide individual nutrition counseling to students, responsive to diverse set of student needs related to chronic illness, medical concerns, counseling needs, or athletic performance needs.
- Coordinate Individual Student Care.
- Manage referrals from BHS, BSM, CAPS, Dining Services, and the Office of Accessible Education.
- Coordinate scheduling with students.
- Coordinate care with relevant parties on campus to facilitate student access to care and support.
- Document clinical services in electronic medical record in alignment with professional standards.
- Attend monthly care coordination meetings with clinical staff from BHS, BSM, and CAPS.
Develop and Implement Nutrition Education:
- Collaborate with Athletics Department Staff (Athletic Trainers, Team Physician, Coaches, Administrators) to develop and provide nutrition education specific to athletic performance.
- Collaborate with Office of Student Well-Being and Dining Services staff to develop and implement educational programming relevant to the needs of the student body.
Provide Nutrition Expertise and Consultation Across Campus:
- Attend weekly meetings with the Office of Accessible Education to evaluate requests for dining related accommodations.
- Attend DCCE Meetings including Menu Meeting, Special Dining Needs Meeting, Menu Review Meeting, and the DCCE Advisory Committee meetings to provide feedback on Dining Services.
- Complete special projects assigned by DCCE to provide expertise and feedback on nutrition related concerns.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid national registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Valid registered dietitian license, either in Maine or with the ability to receive such license in Maine within 30 days of starting the position.
Experience
- Clinical experience working with college-age populations.
- Clinical experience or training in supporting patients experiencing disordered eating.
- Clinical experience or training in nutrition for athletic performance.
- Experience developing and implementing educational programming in a college setting required.
Skills and Knowledge

- Must possess good communication and organizational skills.
