REGISTERED NURSE: Brighton Care Specialty Clinic/Peds OTO Clinic
The Brighton Center for Specialty Care is the newest University of Michigan Ambulatory Care facility dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. The new 2-story facility is located at 7500 Challis Rd. Brighton MI. We are actively seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient-focused individuals who will share in the goal of crafting the ideal experience for our patients, families and employees.
Provide nursing care to adult and pediatric patients and their families in the Department of Otolaryngology with full participation in all aspects of clinic activities and procedural services. Tele-health nursing to include triaging calls from patients and families, clinicians and other healthcare team members. Will act as the RN assisting/supporting faculty in the procedure/treatment room with minor and complex procedures. Care will be provided to adult and pediatric patients.
- Preoperative teaching, counseling and obtaining informed consent for a variety of surgical procedures
- Provide direct support during procedures occurring within the suite
- Perform tele-health triage, educational support, prescription refills, results follow up and care coordination
- Collaborate with other health care team members to provide continuity of care
- Participate in emergency management response to urgent medical issues occurring within the building for patients/visitors
- Assist in maintaining patient flow in clinic
- Assist in the development and implementation of competencies, protocols and patient education tools
- Participate in clinic team meetings to improve process
- Assist in orientation of team members as appropriate, including observation and participation of patient care activities.
- Actively participate and support performance improvement activities related to self, clinic, department, and institutional goals and objectives.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required qualifications:
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Three (3) years, within the last five (5) years, of RN experience directly caring for adult and/or pediatric otolaryngology patients.
NOTE: In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

Preferred qualifications:
- One (1) year within the last five years experience in an ambulatory care surgical clinic (Oto preferred).
- Telephone triage and inbasket management experience within ambulatory care.
- Nursing certification
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).
- Recent demonstrated proficiency with documentation in an electronic health record, e.g., Epic as indicated by interviews, references, and or performance evaluation.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidence by resume, annual evaluations, and references
Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.
