Registered Nurse- Colorectal and Pelvic Malformation Center
Department Summary: Colorectal and pelvic malformations can affect your child at different stages of life, from infancy to puberty and beyond. The clinicians in the Colorectal and Pelvic Malformation Center at Boston Children's Hospital specialize in caring for infants, children, and adolescents with complex colorectal and pelvic conditions, including anorectal malformations, cloacal deformities, and more. Whether your child has been newly diagnosed with such an anomaly at birth or requires revision of a previous surgery, our skilled clinicians will provide expert, compassionate care. Our approach to colorectal and pelvic malformations. At the Colorectal and Pelvic Malformation Center, we take a team approach, combining internationally renowned specialists from surgery, gastroenterology, urology, gynecology, and other disciplines to address all aspects of your child's care. We also partner with the hospital's Motility and Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders Center when appropriate. The result is a comprehensive and personalized treatment plan that works for your child's unique situation.
Key responsibilities:
- Delivering advanced, compassionate, patient-centered care to a diverse population by cultivating collaborative relationships and adapting to changing technologies in an evolving model of patient care.
- Working collaboratively to provide family-centered care as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Collaborating with a team including nurse practitioners, surgeons, urologists, nephrologists, gastroenterologists, gynecologists, inpatient care teams, social work, psychologists dietitian, program coordinator, administrative staff as well as other multidisciplinary colleagues to provide streamlined, comprehensive, and supportive care
- Providing clinical care coordination for Colorectal and Pelvic Malformation Center patients
- Patient follow-up post-operatively and post-visits.
- Answering phone calls and patient messages related to patient issues/triage
- Prescription refills, lab evaluation, pre-operative and post-operative plans
- New patient intakes to assess care acuity prior to clinic visit
- Performing and following case management needs
Minimum qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Experience: At least 3-5 years of RN experience, pediatric nursing or surgical inpatient experience, previous experience with pediatric complex-care patients preferred.
License/Certification: Current Massachusetts RN license, BLS certification
Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
