Essential Job Duties:
Make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of NC State students by providing compassionate, high-quality nursing care in a collaborative clinical environment. As a 12-month Professional Nurse with Campus Health, you will deliver patient-centered care across multiple clinical areas, supporting students through assessment, treatment, education, and follow-up while helping ensure accessible, responsive healthcare throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
- Assess patients, implement treatment plans, and evaluate patient responses to care while rotating among the Medical Clinic, Treatment Clinic, Travel Clinic, Centennial Campus, and Gynecology Services.
- Administer intravenous (IV) fluids, medications, and immunizations in accordance with state regulations, university requirements, standing orders, and established clinical procedures.
- Assist with physical examinations, provide patient education, and coordinate referrals to support continuity of care for the college-aged population.
Clinical Documentation & Care Coordination
- Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and clinical interventions within the electronic health record.
- Work independently under established standing orders while collaborating with providers and clinical staff to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Safety & Operational Support
- Maintain safe clinical practices while working with blood, body secretions, and communicable diseases, following infection prevention, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in fire, Code Blue, and emergency preparedness drills to support operational readiness.
- Report to work during adverse weather conditions and public health emergencies to help ensure continuity of Campus Health services.

Other Work/Responsibilities:
- Exhibit proficient and thorough documentation skills using Electronic Health Records system.
- Participate in fire, code blue and emergency preparedness drills.
- Must report to work during Adverse Weather and related scenarios and for public health emergencies.
Minimum Experience/Education:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Required Qualifications:
- At least two years clinical nursing experience that is current in an acute care setting, medical area, urgent care, Campus Health setting or M.D. office
- Experience making referrals in community & patient teaching.
- Appreciation of needs of the college age population.
- Trained with exposure to blood & body secretions and communicable diseases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in an ambulatory or outpatient healthcare setting.
- Experience administering immunizations, intravenous (IV) therapies, and medications in accordance with established clinical protocols.
- Experience providing nursing care to college-aged or young adult populations.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing for extended periods, and bending to perform patient care activities.
- Availability to report to work during adverse weather events and public health emergencies in support of essential clinical operations.
Required license or certification:
- A current license to practice as a registered nurse in NC by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
