"REGISTERED NURSE: University Hospital (Medical Short Stay Unit)"

This is a "multiple fill" job opening: A total of four (4) (0.9 FTE), Registered Nurses will be hired to fill this job opening.

Provide care for a variety of adult medicine patients requiring acute nursing care for 8-72 hours stays. Included among the patient populations serviced by these units are post-procedural patients and patients who originate from the Emergency Department and will require close observation, assessment and teaching. In addition care is provided to palliative care patients that are housed on this unit. Patients may have arrhythmias necessitating a proficiency in cardiac assessment and monitoring or a willingness to learn about them.

Documented ability to effectively communicate with patients, families and members of the health care team.

Current Michigan RN license for all candidates that have passed the NCLEX. **GN applicants will be considered for this position. The selected Graduate Nurse candidate will have 45 days from date of hire to successfully pass the NCLEX for Michigan RN licensure.

NOTE: In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

* BSN preferred. * Telemetry experience * Recent ICU/ICU step-down experience. * Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. * Demonstrated problem solving, leadership and effective delegation skills. * Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. * ACLS or CCRN certification

Salary & Nursing Framework Level: This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C. Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire. Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

* Note: The MSSU operates 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
